#TBT: The Vintage Finger Wave Look Remains Influential

During the 1920’s when women wanted to switch up their Bob hairstyle, there was one popular style many depended on – the finger wave. The romantic hairstyle was all the rave and was just as glamorous as the bob. Whether a woman had long or short hair, the finger waves were a suitable option for many hair lengths. The popular celebrity of that time, Josephine Baker often wore her short cropped hair in the style. Nowadays, the Empire’s Grace Gealey graces the red carpet or TV screen in the hairstyle.

Every part of my weekday is filled with a list of endless tasks, from fitness training to ongoing projects with my business Relay Collective/Lumibloom. But when it comes to Wednesday nights, I definitely make sure my calendar is clear when Empire airs on FOX. The show is drama-packed and each week the suspense of what’s going to happen next keeps me on the edge of my seat wanting more!

Among the star-studded cast, Cookie played by Taraji P. Henson happens to be my favorite character. Cookie’s spunk and unapologetic sass combined with a her edgy style, has definitely caught my eye. One look in particular that I loved was featured on the show two weeks ago, when she wore a graphic black and white printed bodycon dress. Here are a few black and white sheath dress styles with a similar mood of Cookie’s look that I love. Simply add a colorful shoe to make any black and white dress look pop!
